In my art I work to create an expressive world of color and emotion where anxiety, fear, pain and corruption often coexist with humor and hope. Though the images, at first glance, often represent a dark and aggressive world, they also reveal complex interpersonal relationships, aspirations and dreams. I am influenced by German Expressionism, primitive art and by my own life experiences. My work is filled with the larger-than-life grown ups I met as a child, the people I’ve met in my travels, and people that symbolically represent places and times in my life. I have been exhibiting my work across the country for over twenty years. You can chart my artistic life by many of my paintings and collages: life in Boston and the lower East side of New York City ; my travels in Europe and Asia as well as the social world of my friends and family, from Chicago to Colorado to my current home in Montana .
